When Janette completed this painting and displayed it in her parents' home, she had no idea that some of her friends, when they paused to admire it, would inquire whether she had intentionally depicted four horses.
Janette was taken aback by this question because she had no intention of portraying four horses, only two!
And until her friends told her, she had not realized that she had actually painted 4 horses subconsciously.
So, what do you see? Two or four? Art is all about perspective, and we'd love to hear yours.
Janette Lockett was born in Yorkshire, England in 1963. Her passion for horses developed as a young child. Having found the perfect setting in Andalusia, Spain, for her creative talent, she began her career as a self-taught artist and has had much success with her work. Janette works with pastels applying colour and form to a white art board. Janette Lockett is an associate member of the Society of Equestrian Artists UK.
